With a new season, brings new perspectives and of course newness into our wardrobes. But, that doesn't always mean that we have to necessarily buy new clothes. With a cost of living crisis lingering over our heads like a bad hangover (seriously, why has no one invented a cure for that yet), now has never been a better time to be thrifty. This season is all about denim, a retake on grunge, big bags, and utility. It seems that florals aren't for Spring this season (groundbreaking). Here's a look at some of our favourite trends for Spring/Summer 2023.
HIPS DON'T LIE
When it came to Victoria Beckham, Richard Quinn and Dior, they embodied a period of pure elegance and grace. Watching their shows was like watching an episode of Bridgerton. The drama of it all was fabulous with underskirts to give garments the main character moment they deserved. Ruffles & bustles to afford a little more room at the waist. Chef's kiss.
GRUNGE 2.0
Move over Y2K, the grunge movement of the 90s is back with a bang, and you've designers like Max Mara & Bottega Veneta to thank for that. Think plaid shirts, distressed denim and crop tops. Dust your Dr Martens off, because this trend is here to stay and we're obsessed.
HEAVY METAL LOVER
However you wear this trend, go all out. Metallics for dinner, for shopping or for work, this trend is sure to make a statement wherever you wear it. Designers Paco Rabanne, Rodarte & Versace gave us incredible renditions of this trend, a refreshing take for Spring, usually reserved for the party season in Winter and it surely is for the bold and brave.
RELAX IN DENIM
Denim is a trend that will always be in style, but for this season, it's time to elevate it. Denim dresses, denim boots, or even embellished denim jeans with more casual pieces, it's the fabric to wear this season. Look to designers Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Burberry for inspiration for this trend.
BBE (BIG BAG ENERGY)
Big bags are a joyous return to fashion this season. They're practical and make a big statement with your outfit, practicality will always win for us. Look to designers Altuzarra, Michael Kors & Alaia for inspiration.
SHEER JOY
Another perfect trend for Spring/Summer sheer is a fabulous way to elevate any dress whilst helping to keep cool during those hot Summer days, a super sexy way to and layers to an outfit and add a sense of sultry to a look in an effortless way. Look to designers Chanel, Valentino and Victoria Beckham for inspiration.
TO THE TAILORS
A staple for any wardrobe and for any gender, the suit is back with a vengeance. Wear it casually in feminine colours for those warmer nights in the Summer. Accessorise with feminine touches and you've got a killer vibe and staple for your wardrobe. Look to designers Dries Van Noten, Issey Miyake & Akris for inspiration.
Green With Envy
No need to be envious of this trend. A bold hue, to really make a statement with your style, this ultimate Summer colour will give your look an elevated and elegant feel. Look to designers Fendi, Gucci & Michael Kors for inspiration.
