FASHION | SEVENTY YEARS OF PLATINUM STYLE

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has ruled over the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Ireland for seventy years. And for seventy years, she's given us some of fashion's most iconic style moments and has become in her own right a style icon. With the celebration of her Platinum Jubilee, marking seventy years on the throne here's a look at some of our favourite style moments of those seventy years that made us love her even more.

1. A DASH OF COLOUR

Used more as a security measure so The Queen can be quickly identified in public. a pop of colour has become her statement in later years just as much as her handbags whilst out on Royal duties and meeting members of the public. It is said that she has worn more than 100 different shades of colours over the years. We stan a Queen that rocks the colours of the rainbow.

2. OFF WITH HIS HEAD

Hats, crowns, scarves, your accessories can make or break your outfit. From her incredible collection of Hermes scarves to those wonderfully intricate floral headpieces, The Queen has a hat, fascinator, crown or scarves for every occasion, from horse riding to attending the wedding of another member of the Royal Family.

3. PRINTS CHARMING

The Queen wasn't always seen wearing matching colours. From 1960 right through to the '80s, she was often pictured in prints, both matching and contrasting, which was very much a reflection of fashion during these decades, a stark contrast to the fashion at the beginning of the 20th Century.

4. DRIPPING IN JEWELS

What member of any Royal household would be complete without their jewellery? Her Majesty has access to some of the world's most prestigious jewels, crowns, necklaces & pearls, often worn for state occasions or evening events in her youth. In the words of Rihanna, nothing shines bright like a diamond.

5. ACCESSORIES FIT FOR A QUEEN

Often used as a signal to her security when it's time for her to move on or she wants to end a conversation, her collection of Launer handbags has become a staple part of her outfits when out and about performing Royal duties. Always in black to contrast against her clothing, it is said that if she switches her handbag to another arm or places her bag on a table in front of her, it is an indication that she is ready to move on. We can only wonder what she carries around in those gorgeous Launer handbags.
