March 2013: Cover Story: Marina Diamandis

She's fresh, she's beautiful, she's a talent, and I am so stoked to have her on the cover for March for TREND and to be writing and talking about the fantastic Marina Diamandis or as most people and her fans know her as Marina And The Diamonds.

Her second album 'Electra Heart' is what first brought me to the singer with her single 'Primadonna' making a smash in the UK charts and a personal favourite of mine. But I have never listened to an album and been able to relate to pretty much every single song on the album, and it's the same with Lady Gaga's Born This Way which makes me feel like I have a connection to not just her as a singer and a performer but as a human being, and it is a quality that is lost with most singers and performers these days, everything is so corporate and plastic, but with Marina everything is so human and real. Listening to her music is something that sends shivers down my spine which I think is brilliant when an artist can do that to a fan, with her singles 'Power & Control', 'Primadonna', 'Radioactive', 'I Am Not A Robot' and 'Hollywood' being my favourite, and I hope to catch her live in a concert or at a festival.

It's interesting to look at her Primadonna look and style too, it reminds me of a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Madonna which ties in so well with her latest album Electra Heart. Looking at her style overall is really interesting, as she channels so many looks and outfits, she can go from sweet and sugary with pastel pink dresses and cute blonde hair too looking really tough and almost like a rocker with a varsity jacket and dark hair, which as a fashionista is so great to see and which is why I wanted her on the cover for March. My favourite look of hers has to be the Primadonna look, with all its sweetness and charm it ties in so well with her look and feel of the album, and I can't wait to see what Marina does in the future in terms of her fashion, her lyrics and her music.
