COVER STORY: JANUARY 2013: JESSIE J

One of the great things I love about Jessie J, as well as her amazing voice, of course, is how human and down to earth she appears to be on stage and towards her fans, which is a rare quality in musicians. This shone through when she became a judge on the BBC TV programme 'The Voice', and from what I could see there was genuine care, attention to detail and passion for the people she was mentoring, which are from what I can see are qualities that shine through in her love for music.

Jessie J is someone who is in my opinion ultimately brilliant and who's music I instantly fell in love with as soon as I heard it. Her first album 'Who You Are' was so fresh that I felt like I was hit in the face with a beautiful floral scented fragrance with a slight masculine twist which kept on giving with her wonderful singles to follow from the album: 'Price Tag', 'Who You Are', 'Do It Like A Dude', 'Nobody's Perfect''Who's Laughing Now'. Her pitch, tone, and rapping style mixed with a touch of femininity through her lyrics and with a twist of a tomboy look in her clothes is something I ultimately respect about her, something that makes her herself and something that I feel she hasn't lost since her career skyrocketed her to fame back in 2010. Of course like any celebrities career when they start out they're the tabloid and press scandals that aim to ruin a person career before it's even really started. With a scandal rumouring that she was a lesbian rather than just a bi-sexual she denied the rumour on Twitter "Yet another boring untrue story". One of the great things I admire about her is that she stood up to it at the time which is something not a lot of celebrities do when it comes to their sexuality or their personal lives saying "I've never denied it. Whoopie doo guys, yes, I've dated girls and I've dated boys – get over it."

Style, is something that can also make or break a person's career, especially in the music business and in my opinion style is something that Jessie J does well. Whether she's rocking Vivienne Westwood, rocking union jack lips, rocking prints in a fun way or rocking, in general, this girl knows what to wear when she's rocking and how to wear it. One of my favourite outfits she wore was for The 2011 Brit Awards in which she wore a take on the grunge, darker look with a mechanical bralette and high waisted shorts and picked up an award from the event as the critics choice awards which ironically were designed by none other than Vivienne Westwood herself that year. It would also seem that she can pull off pretty much any outfit or piece of clothing that is thrown at her, going from edgy prints to colour, stylish and cutting edge fabrics to the more glamorous & sexy look she wore down the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in which she wore Louis Healgiving the leopard print, in my opinion, a whole new look and feel in a more sophisticated, glamorous, grown up and sexy new way. anticipate a new album from Jessie J and cannot wait to see what she has in-store for her fans in the future, whether it's in music, in fashion or in general.
