May 2012: Cover Story: Gok Wan

Over the past around seven years I have watched Gok Wan's career expand and grow into something really quiet spectacular, with his cheeky smile and his eye for style he has undoubtedly one of Britain's best loved stylists which is exactly why I wanted him on one of my cover story posts.

His work has changed over the years, he's been a stylist, a fashion creator and I suppose you could say a sort of therapist to hundreds if not thousands of women, men and teenagers giving them something that in today's society is not always easy to find: confidence "it's all about the confidence". Auntie Gok as he calls himself has helped women find out their body shapes, given them makeovers to make them feel fabulous and confident again, traveled to China to find out about the jeans 'sweat trade' and just recently, he's started his own line of glasses at Specsavers (phew that was a mouth full).

But it's his work with women, their makeovers and confidence issues that excites me and makes me love what he does in his work. He uses that and has a personal connection with these women, because he himself had body confidence issues when he was a teenager and has since become probably one of the most confident people around which for someone like me who also struggled with body confidence issues, was always a massive inspiration. People find it easier to connect with someone who has been through the same thing as them, which is why for me, he has always been a massive inspiration and is part of the reason that I write my blog. He backs the high-street and I'm right there with him "you don't have to splash the cash to look fabulous" proving through his TV hosting skills and his stylist skills that you can put an outfit together through the use of the high street for less than one hundred pound. All you need is some inspiration and a little bit of fabulous confidence.

What do you think of Gok and his style tips/attitude towards body confidence? Let me know in the comments and as always let's be social:
